Jersey City School Board President Undergoing Cancer Treatment
At the age of 24 I have been blessed with many unique opportunities, none more important to me than the chance to serve the residents of this city.
This year, as we embark on one of our toughest battles between safely reopening our schools and a budget crisis that stems from years of underfunding, I want to be transparent about the personal battle that I am facing.
Last month, I was officially diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma. My doctors are optimistic about my prognosis and we believe that this cancer is not only treatable, but curable.
When weighing the options with my doctor, we have determined that I will be able to continue my work serving the resident of Jersey City. I have already begun an intensive chemotherapy treatment which may last the next couple of months.
To my constituents: being elected to serve the residents of Jersey City is the honor of a lifetime. As I’ve thought about my life, there is nothing I would rather do at this time than serve our children. They are our future. With God’s help I can continue to serve.
Please keep me and my family in your prayers during this difficult time.
